Shomrei Adama: Keepers of the Earth
This year, we will follow the theme of Shomrei Adama: Keepers of the Earth / "TBS Goes Green"
"Gleanings"
This year, as part of our on-going initiative "TBS Goes Green" Temple Beth Sholom
will honor our role as Jews to help others and help the earth by traveling to the Golden
Earthworm Farm in Jamesport, NY to glean. We will harvest the leftover crops in the
field to be donated to Long Island Harvest and distributed to soup kitchens all over
Long Island. This is a mitzvah directly from the Torah and it will be a most meaningful
and fun project. Sunday, November 1, 2009

Mitzvah Day 2010
We are proud that we are partnering with Temple Sinai of Roslyn for a community wide
Mitzvah Day on Sunday April 18, 2010. TBS and Temple Sinai members will canvas
the local area engaging in all kinds of projects. We need a great deal of help and people
power for this day.
Shabbat 1000
You are invited to the biggest festive meal in the history of Temple Beth Sholom. On
Friday Evening, June 4, 2010 we will hold our biggest ever Shabb at 1000 dinner and
services. Add your voice to our singing, your appetite for our dinner and spend Shabb at
as only we at TBS know how to do it. Join us for an unusual Shabb at dinner with the
traditional blessings and songs, and a variety of Shabb at services to appeal to every
taste. In 2008 we held our first Shabb at 1000, challenging the TBS community to bring
together 1000 people for a Friday Night experience. We came so close, reaching 850
(1000-ish). Can we do it this year, TBS? We think so!
