Sanctuary Service
|
 Beth Sholom is extremely proud of it traditional, egalitarian Shabbat Service. Every Shabbat morning, hundreds of regulars join together in our beautiful sanctuary. Lead by our three Rabbis and our wonderful shaliach tzibur, Cantor Ofer Barnoy, our service is spirited and participatory.
Everyone looks forward to Rabbi Alan Lucas’ or Rabbi Jeni Friedman's sermon, where our rabbis exhibit a unique ability to connect the weekly Torah portion to contemporary issues.
We also take great pride in our Torah reading program, whereby Rabbi Solomon, our Ritual Director, works with congregants and prepares them to chant portions of the weekly parsha.

Shefa Minyan
|
Informal, spirited, participatory, community-led davening (prayer). Welcoming and open to all ages. If you are interested in leading part of the service, reading Torah/Haftarah, or if you have any questions, contact David Rosenthal. The Shefa minyan meets once monthly in the Sandler Chapel. Shefa means "abundance". The Shefa Minyan celebrates the abundance of knowledge and spirituality within the TBS community, and the abundance of ritual options that our pluralistic, diverse, and vibrant community can enjoy.

Children's Services

Mishpacha Minyan
|
The Mishpacha Minyan, led by Rabbi Jeni Friedman for children ages 8 and up (and their parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.), meets every other week during the school year in the Sandler Chapel. Join Rabbi Friedman in a family-friendly Shabbat morning service where parents and children take the time to learn, pray and sing together. Each session families are invited to lead different parts of the service, have an aliyah together, or participate in a Torah skit or text study. The Mishpacha Minyan also provides a special time for children in our 6th Grade (or the Vav Class in our Religious School) to read from the Torah in preparation for their upcoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Using lots of fun new tunes and intergenerational activities, this service is a unique opportunity for parents and children to spend Shabbat together and to make connections with other families who are doing the same thing.

Minyan Yeladeynu
|
Our TBS Minyan Yeladeynu, for children ages 8 and up, meets every other week during the school year in the Library. Join Joe to learn about the customs and symbols of the Shabbat Morning Service and take turns leading different parts of the service including dancing the Amidah, the "Kick-Off", and "Stand up, Sit Down Cha-Cha-Cha." Each session we perform a skit based on the Torah portion, discuss the parasha, and talk about how it relates to us today. The best part about Minyan Yeladeynu is that everyone participates in some way and we always take the time to ask and answer questions about what we're doing. All questions are welcomed!

Mini Minyan
|
Our Mini Minyan for children ages 3 - 7, starts each Shabbat at 10:30 a.m. and lasts until approximately 12 Noon. Join Geri in the Youth Lounge for an energetic, child-centered Shabbat morning service. Through age appropriate songs, games and dancing, children gain familiarity with the basic structure of the Jewish prayer service and the weekly Torah reading. Each month we celebrate the birthdays of Mini Minyan participants, and on the Mini Minyan before an upcoming Jewish Holiday, the children create a Shabbat-friendly holiday themed art project to use at home. Each week, after Mini Minyan's celebratory Kiddush, the Mini Minyan participants lead Adon Olam for the entire congregation on the steps of the Bima in our Main Sanctuary.

Shabbateeny
|
 Shabbateeny, for families with children aged 2 and under, is an interactive song-filled experience with body movement, Shabbat songs and story time. Join us afterward in the Kiddush luncheon at a table specially reserved for families with children aged 2 years old and younger. This is a special new Shabbat program for our teeny children in 2009-2010, and a way for families with young children to meet one another and celebrate Shabbat with song, dance, and ruach (spirit).
Join us on October 3, 2009, December 12, 2009, March 6, 2010 and May 8, 2010 on Sabbat morning from 11:15 am ~ 12 pm in the new Early Childhood Center

Shabbat Evening (Friday Night) Minyanim

Chapel Service
|
The Friday Evening Kabbalat Shabbat service takes place in the intimate daily chapel and begins around the posted candle-lighting time. (During the summer, when Shabbat begins late, services begin at 6:30 pm). Please view our web site home page for exact times.
The service begins with the Mincha service lead by Rabbi Solomon and a lay Shliach Tzibur (prayer leader) and continues with the Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv service lead by Rabbi Lucas and Cantor Barnoy. The service is spirited with many congregational melodies, culminating in the Kiddush (the blessing over the wine), and the Mourner's Kaddish.

Friday Night Live
|
 Friday Night Live mirrors the trendy services that originated in California and the famed BJ service in NYC. Sing and dance along to melodies from Craig Taubman, Rick Recht, Carlebach, Sol Zim and other stars of Jewish music. Enjoy the spicy sound of the Friday Night Live band accompanying Cantor Barnoy and the TBS youth choir. FNL is a happening taking place once a month, usualy in conjunction with a Shabbat dinner - please call the office for info. Friday Night Live - reJEWvenate your soul!

 365 days a year, every day, you can count on Beth Sholom for Minyan. Coordinated by our Ritual Director, Rabbi Sidney Solomon, our lay lead minyan is always there for Mourners, those observing Yahrzeit, and anyone who davens on a daily basis.
We also coordinate and support home minyanim at Shiva homes.
Mornings (Shaharit): Monday through Friday, 6:45am, Sunday 9:00am
Evenings (Mincha/Ma'ariv): Sunday through Thursday, 8:00pm
Friday evenings and Shabbat (morning and evening) as per our Shabbat schedule.
